David Rawson and the Rwandan Collection: An Exploration of Genocide and Peace

David Rawson and the Rwandan Collection: An Exploration of Genocide and Peace

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, the George Fox University Library will host David Rawson, former U.S. ambassador to Rwanda and currently a visiting scholar in our College of Business, to present his collection of primary sources from the Rwandan genocide, civil war, and peace talks. The event will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Special Collections Room on the second floor of the Murdock Library.

Rawson was an active participant in the peace talks in the early 1990s and gathered his own materials from those years for the benefit of future historians. As part of his presentation, he will discuss his recently published book, Prelude to Genocide: Arusha, Rwanda, and the Failure of Diplomancy. There will be time for questions, and the audience will be invited to explore the archival collection donated by Rawson.
