David Rawson and the Rwandan Collection: An Exploration of Genocide and Peace

David Rawson and the Rwandan Collection: An Exploration of Genocide and Peace

On January 15th at 4pm the George Fox University Library will host David Rawson, former US Ambassador to Rwanda, to present his collection of primary sources from the Rwandan Genocide, Civil War, and Peace Talks.  Rawson was an active participant in the peace talks and gathered his own materials from this time for the benefit of future historians.  Rawson will also speak about his recently published book Prelude to Genocide: Arusha, Rwanda, and the Failure of Diplomacy.  After the talk there will be time for questions and the audience will be invited to explore the archival collection donated by Rawson.  The Rawson archival collection will be open for research in January, portions will be digitized and made available through the George Fox University Digital Commons in the coming year.

The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Murdock Library Special Collections Room.
